Passionate about solving real-world challenges for customers and driving sustainable growth, he’s a fantastic fit for our team. Let’s get to know him a little better…

Tell us a little about yourself – what’s your career journey been like so far, and what led you to the traffic management sector?

I’ve spent 19 years at Glasdon UK, as part of their Highways and Lighting team with the last 9 years working as Field Sales Manager, which gave me great exposure to technical sales and working closely with customers to understand and solve their challenges.

I really enjoy combining commercial thinking with technical understanding to deliver sustainable, long-term solutions. Working with Local Authorities and their engineers, buyers, and contractors helped me see where innovation can really make a difference. And fun fact, I actually started out as a fully qualified baker!

You’ve joined Portland Traffic at a pivotal time – what are your ambitions in this new role, and how do you hope to make an impact?

I’m looking forward to helping Portland Traffic grow its reach, getting our brilliant product portfolio in front of new and existing customers across my region. I also want to support our marketing efforts, making sure we get strong coverage for new product launches and updates.

Bringing my experience in the highways market to the table and working alongside such a knowledgeable and passionate team is a great opportunity. I’m excited to play a part in expanding our presence and continuing to build on the company’s reputation.

What was it about Portland Traffic that motivated you to take this next step in your career?

What really stood out was the company’s focus on quality, service, and innovation. Portland Lighting has built a trusted reputation since 1994, and you can tell the team genuinely cares about what they do.

I was also drawn to the opportunity to contribute to sustainable, forward-thinking product development, and I love that Portland work so closely with their customer base to achieve this. Add to that the collaborative support from the wider Group network, and it just felt like the perfect next step.

With the industry continually adapting to new technologies and shifting legislation, what do you see as the key challenges today, and where do you believe there’s real potential for innovation or progress?

Energy costs are a big challenge for local authorities, and there’s a clear need for smarter, more energy-efficient solutions. I’m especially interested in products that help cut long-term running costs – whether through low power usage or solar-powered systems.

There’s real opportunity to bring innovations to market that deliver both commercial value and positive environmental impact. I’m looking forward to exploring those opportunities with the team and helping to keep Portland Traffic ahead of the curve.
